Banjo Detects Magic and determines that the fountains both radiate conjuration magic. He determines that the water is not magical but the fountains are. They appear to be creating the water. Thurstan examines the statue but does not find anything further of interest.
Clint examines the door to the south and does not detect any traps but it is locked. It is engraved with the names Verdunn and Gola Mikolos. No one recognizes the names. Many of the crypts appear to have been looted. Those that have been have no valuables remaining. Blunderbuss tries the door but he cannot open it.
Jean and Torvald guard the west door while Clint examines the archway to the north. The color of the stone here is a darker gray, and the shape of the blocks making up the walls changes. Two small staircases descend to a stone door that has a strange image engraved on it. The image on the door changes as Clint examines it. The stylized image of a beholder and the following poem is
- Magic dies, fast men slow, the passage you seek is not below.
- Eye of death, eye of stone, the key to passage they haven’t shown.
- Fear and mind, you can say, will move you around in the wrong way.
- Friends are shy, sleep in rest, neither points to the passage that’s best.
- Enemy friend, painful wound, oblivion aids, it is ruined.
The door is shut and appears to be locked. Clint does not find a physical lock and concludes that it must be magically held. The rogue calls the sorcerer to help examine the portal. Banjo detects magic on the door, sensing two auras. One is definitely abjuration and the other is unclear.

I see each beholder eye is some kind of figure, but Im kind of fuzzy on what theyre supposed to represent. Is it possible the figures represent the passages? The lower left figure could be Magic Dies/Fast Men Slow, but the representations are a little sketchy to give a clear meaning for the rest of the passage. Is there a clearer description of the little dudes?
Banjo touches the lower left figure. Anything happen?
Clint, thinking out loud says "10 tentacles... 10 crpyts up there in the hall...Hmmm"
ReplyDeleteClint tries to pick the lock on the door to the south, while continuing to puzzle out what the poem might mean.
Rolls for Saving Throws/Skill checks 19, 4, 3, 2, 2 ....WTF!!
