Not wishing to take more bites from the monster, Clint moves behind Dargoth quipping, “Your turn to be on the menu again.” As he slipped past the fighter. Clint used the opportunity to slash at the monster with his longsword. The blow landed and dealt 11 damage which was enough to destroy the construct.

Thurstan completed his climb from the pit delivering the half-elf Leera to the top while his wolf stood guard.

The remaining Distracter maneuvered behind Banjo while the Harrier made its attack. The construct missed the sorcerer. Banjo stepped out of the flanking position and cast a Scorching Ray while combat casting. The spell was cast perfectly but the attack missed the mark as the ray missed the Harrier.

Barrow of the Forgotten King - Turn Results 86

The smoke monster and the metal monster moved to attack Clint. The constructs worked in concert to gain flanking on the rogue. The metal assaulter scored a hit with its bite for 10 damage. Clint drew his longsword and tried to return the favor but the elf missed his target. Not liking the way the situation was stacking up Clint took a step backward to move out of the flanked position.

Dargoth stood ready to meet an enemy while Thurstan tied Leera to his back and started to climb out of the 30 foot deep pit. Thurstan’s wolf also stood guard at the rim of the pit.

The other smoke monster tried to sneak past Clint. The rogue swung his sword but missed his target. The attack of opportunity did stop the distracter from getting around behind him. The tiny smoke cloud attempted to bite the elf but missed. The stone monster advanced on the rogue as well. It succeeded in getting past Clint’s guard and around to his side but it missed the rogue with its spiked appendage.

Banjo advanced and let a Scorching Ray spell loose on the stone monster. The small construct took 17 damage from the fire bolt.

Barrow of the Forgotten King - Turn Results 85

Banjo moved to the edge of the pit and cast Detect Magic. No magic was detected. Dargoth also moved to the pit and lowered a rope. Thurstan and his wolf returned from down the passageway. The cleric cast Lesser Restoration of Dargoth, healing the fighter 2 CON.

Thurstan then climbed down the rope to tend to the discovered half elf. The cleric cast Cure Light Wounds healing the woman 9 damage. The healing was enough to bring her to consciousness.

The half elf stirred and looked up at Thursatn. “Thank you for your aid. My name is Leera.”

While his companions tended to the pit victim, Clint headed down the passageway to examine the hobgoblin body. The remains were equipped with ruined studded leather armor, a longsword, a light wooden shield and an amulet. Looking up from his looting, Clint noticed activity in the room beyond.

Each statue spit from its mouth a tiny creature that looks like nothing more than animated smoke with luminous eyes and a humanoid form. The chests of both statues opened. From the one in the southeast leaped a small, vaguely humanoid creature that looks like it’s made of stone, but covered in dark spatters and has burning eyes. Each of its four appendages is a long spike. On two of these it runs on with good speed. To the northwest, a black, metallic, animal-like creature tumbled from the statue, its four paw-like limbs used to run and support its oversized jaws, which are filled with sharp teeth. This creature, too, has dried blood all over it, and both of the constructs appear to have suffered damage from an earlier battle.

Still looking for a post from Clint

I am still looking for a player post from Matt H for Clint.

Please validate that I have the rest of the actions correct. Banjo will cast Detect Magic and move to the edge of the pit. Dargoth will move to the pit and lower a rope. Thurstan will climb down and heal the half elf. I need to know if he is using a spell, channel or some other means.

I will post when I hear from Matt.

The next turn is likely to be more role playing and information exchange. I will do my best to answer your questions. Please check back to the turn thread at least once a day. The turn may run for several days depending on your input.
