The Sinister Spire - GM Turn Post 116

What do you do next?

Physically, Dargoth is a mess and needs attention that the party cannot currently provide.
Resting in the Necromancer’s Spike is possible. If that is the plan, I need a definitive location and a watch order before we proceed.

Returning to Pedestal is also an option. If that is the plan, please advise where you plan to go and what you would like to do. i.e. Return to the Dripstone Inn and speak with Es Sarch or go the Bazaar and sell treasure and purchase Restorations. You only know of one way in or out of the Spire. The ring that you received from Es Sarch provides protection from the death field for a set amount of time per day. You have used a portion of that time for today upon entering the Spike and with exploring the entry room.
Resting and then returning to town is also an option. If that is the plan, I need all of the data for the options listed above.

The Sinister Spire – Turn Results 115

The room that the party is currently in is a shrine to an evil god/demon/devil. No one could remember which one. Though dedicated to the evil entity, no magical auras are present and it does not appear to have been desecrated by an evil priest.

The casting of a Detect Magic reveals that the rods of each statue radiate a moderate aura of conjuration magic. There is a purple glow coming from the eyes of the skull atop each rod.

The Sinister Spire – Turn Results 114

The presence of the voidwraith continued to suck away the air from Dargoth, Kirlic and Clint. The monster struck the fighter again draining 2 CON. Dargoth now out of air struggled but failed to remain conscious.

 Kirlic pressed the attack with his magic flail, swinging at the monster with both hand. The ranger scored two hits which each dealt 6 damage to the incorporeal monster. Clint stepped back to gain flanking with Kirlic. Thanks to the haste spell, the rogue attacked twice with his sword and once with his dagger. All blows landed and dealt 9 damage, 8 damage and 9 damage respectively. The monster dissipated with a howl and the air rushed back to the space it had occupied with a physical percussion.
Banjo stood ready to cast a Magic Missile but no target presented itself.  Thurstan stepped out of the coals and started to tend Dargoth. The cleric detected shallow breath from the fighter. Dargoth still showed signed of life but just barely. With aid from Thurstan the fighter was revived and able to get to his feet.

 Clint suffered 2 damage from standing in the hot coals before he could move to safety.

The Sinister Spire – Turn Results 113

The voidwraith stepped closer to the rest of the party. This action sucked away the air from the Kirlic and Clint in addition to Dargoth. The monster struck the fighter again draining 2 CON. Dargoth now out of air struggled and succeeded to remain conscious.

Instructing his companions by pointing and gesturing, Kirlic granted his companions a portion of his favored enemy knowledge versus undead. The ranger pressed the attack with his magic flail scoring a hit which dealt 6 damage to the incorporeal monster. Clint stepped to the side and gained flanking with Dargoth. Thanks to the haste spell, the rogue attacked twice with his sword and once with his dagger. Both sword blows landed and dealt 12 and 8 damage respectively. The dagger strike missed the mark.
The hasted Dargoth attacked the monster with 3 mighty power attacks with his bastard sword. Two of the three attacks landed and dealt 8 damage and 10 damage respectively. The fighter stepped out of the burning coals and toward the cleric. Banjo cast a Magic Missile at the undead. The spell struck and dealt 9 damage to the void wraith.

Thurstan ordered Mr. Wolfe to retreat out of the burning coals on the other side of the toppled brazier. The cleric then used the last of his daily channel positive energy to damage the wraith. The burst of positive energy dealt 6 damage to the undead.
Thurstan suffered 3 damage and Clint suffered 2 damage from standing in the hot coals.

The Sinister Spire – Turn Results 112

Dargoth continued to suffocate as the Voidwraith hissed and attacked the fighter again. The wraith touched Dargoth and drained 2 CON. The fighter was still not able to catch his breath and was drained another 2 CON.

 The Fever turned its attention to Thurstan and attacked the cleric with its flaming fist. The blow landed, catching Thurstan off guard, dealing 6 physical damage, 3  fire damage and drained his life force bestowing two negative levels.
Clint stepped forward to aid Thurstan. The rogue attacked with both of his weapons; hitting with his sword for 11 damage but missing with his dagger.  Kirlic dropped his bow and entered the room and drawing his magic flail. The elf scored a hit dealing 13 damage.

 Dargoth attacked the Voidwraith with two power attacks from his bastard sword. The first  blow landed dealing 9 damage but the second missed.  Banjo cast Haste. Mr. Wolfe attacked  the flaming monster but was not able to grab ahold with his bite, Thurstan attacked the prone monster with his rapier and dealt 11 damage which killed it.
Thurstan, Mr. Wolfe and Dargoth all suffered 2 damage from standing in the hot coals.

The Sinister Spire – Turn Results 111

An amorphous cloud of darkness broken only by two points of blazing violet rose from the bloody altar. A breeze moves toward it as if it is drawing in air. It hissed and flew to attack Dargoth. The air around the creature was sucked away forcing the fighter to hold his breath. The wraith touched Dargoth and drained 4 CON. The fighter lost his breath and was drained another point of CON.

The fiery monster to the left of Clint attacked the rogue with its flaming fist. The blow landed dealing 5 physical damage, 6 fire damage and drained the elf’s life force bestowing a negative level.
Clint jumped back in horror to a flanking position with Dargoth. The rogue attacked the other monster but missed with both of his weapons due to the effects of the negative level and the inability to achieve any discernible advantage from flanking.  Kirlic stepped to the side and let fly two arrors at the first monster. The first arrow found its mark dealing 6 damage while the second flew wide.

Dargoth attacked with two power attacks from his bastard sword. Both blows landed dealing 18 and 21 damage respectively. The fighter felt that he landed a killing blow but he too was confounded by the creature’s alien physiology. Banjo pulled out one of his wands and fired two magic missiles at the monster between Clint and Dargoth. The spell hit dealing 7 damage which destroyed the creature.

At Thurstan’s command, Mr. Wolfe maneuvered to flank the flaming monster and snapped at the creature dealing 8 damage and knocking it prone. Mr. Wolfe suffered 1 fire damage for his success. Turstan attacked the prone monster with his rapier and dealt 8 damage.

From standing in the hot coals, Thurstan suffered 1 damage,  Mr. Wolfe 3 damage, Dargoth 1 damage and Clint 2 damage.

You are currently exploring the Sinister Spire, the tower of the drow necromancer, Maroe, in the Underdark city of Pedestal.  You are searching for Fadheela, a mysterious agent of the Assassins’ Guild. Es Sarch has lead you to believe that she is currently residing within the tower.
You just entered what appears to be a temple to an evil god, demon or devil. Upon entering, two flame monsters appeared from within the magically burning braziers and started a combat.
