After resting the party presses on further into the crypt.

You round a corner and come into a roughly octagonal room that is divided by a thick wall. The area does not resemble the labyrinth’s confusing, rough passages.

A yawning pit opens in the floor here, and in it is the body of a young female in a light chain shirt. She has auburn hair and fine features, her ears suggesting elf heritage but her height and build suggest human ancestry as well. Her equipment indicates she was an explorer of some sort.

Clint notices that she still appears to be breathing.

A look around the corner to the east reveals another chamber. The smell of blood and entrails reaches you from this large, oddly shaped room. A hobgoblin lies at your feet, twisted and broken in death. Dark spatters and smears point toward another body near the center of the room. Beyond it is a pile of rubble that might once have been a stone table or platform. To the north, a set of stone doors lies in shambles, their frame forming a dark opening to what might be a stairway. The most prominent features of the room are two large light-colored metal statues, one to the southeast and one to the northwest. Dried blood is visible around what look like compartment doors in each statue’s chest.

I will post a new turn tomorrow

I have received everyone's characters. I have updated the character summary file and I have uploaded it to the web site.

I will post a new turn tomorrow.

I am making the following assumptions:

  • The characters will rest.
  • They will rest in the maze near the Leech Room. (Going further back is problematic. You would have to work through the maze again and that could be costly in time and resources.)
  • Dargoth is still down 3 CON. (3 were healed by Thurstan and 1 was healed by resting.)
  • Thurstan's Wolf has healed its CON loss.
  • Banjo casts Mage Armor on himself after resting.
  • Banjo tells Thursatn that Dargoth has likely contracted Demon Fever. (The party has no means to heal him currently.)
  • Dargoth will need to make two Fort saves at the end of the day (next time the party rests).
  • The party will proceed to the other side of the Leech Room, avoiding the runes and water, and continue looking for the grave robbers.

Waiting for input

I have received 3 of 4 updated characters. I am still waiting on an update to Clint.

I also need a clear direction on what the group plans to do next. I have heard cast a spell on Dargoth, a request to rest and and a green light to press on if necessary. I need a collective plan and the individual actions related to that plan.

If you want to rest, where do you plan to do so?

If you plan to press on, please list all actions taken prior to moving on. We are not in rounds currently. I can accept multiple actions/instructions from the players.

My next turn post will be some time after I receive the direction that I require. It seems likely that I will only get or or maybe two posts this week. (I will be out of town this coming weekend. We will be leaving Friday morning and I will not be back until Sunday.)

Please send me copies of you new character sheets so that I can update character summary.

When leveling, you may gain new hit points, skills, class features and new spells. If you are down hp or stat points or have used spells and ablilities, they will not reset until you rest.

Barrow of the Forgotten King - Turn Results 83

Clint shouted out his plan to have Banjo swim toward the original opening. Thurstan and Dargoth boosted Clint up to the labyrinth floor. The rogue ran through the maze to the designated spot.

The leech swarms moved closer to Banjo but the sorcerer remained out of their reach.

Banjo swam as fast as he could. The leeches moved closer. Clint lowered his rope, Banjo swam some more and … was pulled to safety.

On track again

Sorry for the delay but I have been busy (and sick for the last few days).

If I get speedy responses, I will post again tomorrow. Otherwise I will post on Friday night.

A few things to note:

- The climb check to scale the walls without aid or tools is a DC 25.

- The swarms appear to swim a max of 20 (4 squares). Banjo can swim 15 (3 squares) and the wolf can swim 25 (5 squares).

- Once this encounter is over, you will level to 4th.

Barrow of the Forgotten King - Turn Results 82

Clint threw a rope to Thurstan and hauled the cleric out of the water and the hungry swarm.

The leech swarm moved to engulf Thurstan’s Wolf and Dargoth. Both suffered 1 CON damage. The Wolf made both fortitude saves and was fine. The fighter failed both and he became nauseated.

Banjo swam away from the swarms and toward the original opening the party discovered to this room. The sorcerer tried to climb up the twenty feet of slippery wall but it proved to be too difficult for his skill.

Thurstan threw a rope to Dargoth and pulled the fighter out of the water and the swarm. Thurstan’s wolf swam after Banjo but was also unable to climb out. Dargoth rolled and retched upon the ground which was enough to kill the remaining giant leech suckling upon his flesh.

The remaining Leech Swarm moved to the south and east and started to round the spire toward the remaining heroes in the water.
