Barrow of the Forgotten King - GM Turn Post 90

What do you do now? As you are currently out of combat we can probably run things out of initiative order. I do need to know where you are moving and if you plan to leave the area.

This turn is likely to be more role playing and information exchange. I will do my best to answer your questions. Please check back to the turn thread at least once a day. The turn may run for several days depending on your input.

  3. Thurstan suggests we explore 1 room at a time from now on, and don't poke anything till we are actually ready, and don't jump into anything, and don't pull anything, or push anything, or lick anything, or wander off to have alone time, or sneak off to watch the crystal ball.

  4. Clint rolls his eyes at Thursday...err... Thurstan... And agrees to try and keep his impulsive curiosity at bay.

Along those lines, Clint proposes we finish checking out the pit, and then chatting up Leera about what is going on here. Sensing motive, and all that jazz. Clint is a little on the suspicious side sometimes.

Ohh, and he lights up a cigarillo.

  5. Also gives a tip of the hat for the generous healing spell to Thurstan. /tip

  6. Thurstan is still deciding if he should blat or cure Clitt. it depends on if Leera needs more healing as well.
    .
    .
    .
    or wait till "thursday"..

  7. Leera is currently in the single digits. I need to calculate her max HP but she is down in the neighborhood of 30 HP (likely a few more). I believe Clint is down a bunch, 30+ HP and Dargoth is down 12 HP.

Bang for the buck would be a "blat". At least one.

  8. Seeing as i don't want to wait till an unspecified 'thursday' (grumble, grumble, thursday-my-ass), i also blat for [7].

And free & check Leera. is she able to move on her own.

I ask her her story, how she found herself in this state, etc.

  10. Basically check out the room.

Ask her if she was alone. Or if she was with the other human / hobgoblin.

  11. Leera reveals the following as a result of you initial questions:

"I learned of the expedition to this tomb from Teryl, an associate of mine, and he let me have a place in the party. I didn't know what I was getting into.

"A man named Xeron leads the tomb robbers, but a hobgoblin priest of Urgatha also has some clout. Xeron is some sort of arcanist - he's also young, intense, and without mercy. To be honest, he scares me, and I've tried to keep from attracting much notice until I could escape from his band of cut throats. He's looking for something deeper in the catacombs, and only his personal magnetism has kept the tomb robbers from escaping with the treasure they've found already. He thinks someone is bound to be pursuing him by now, though, and has talked about finding a different exit from the tomb rather than the hole we dug to come in.

"The hobgoblin cleric - Krootad, they called him - elected to stay behind and take care of the pursuit. You must have already run across him. He wouldn't shrink when it comes to raising the dead and the possibility of killing decent folk.

"I think the remaining tomb robbers are nothing more than servants and hirelings, though most seem reasonably loyal to Xeron. Supposing nobody fell in the next room, he still has Teryl, a few more varags, three hobgoblin warriors, a halfling male I think is a sorcerer, and a nasty goblin female. We left several goblinoids and undead behind us, as well as some of Xeron's twisted pets. Many members of our band have died in the run through this place."

  12. Clint does not find anything else in the pit.

Once he gives the all clear, Leera warns "There is another one at the end of the hall in front of the entrance to the next room."

Clint believes she is telling the truth (about the pit and the other things she has said so far).

  13. can Thurstan get an update on wound status, the excell is woefully outdated, re: this posting.

i have more healing joy of Godzilla, er Gozreh, i mean.

(seriously, Gozreh/Gojira, is it a coincidence) Deity of nature, weather, and the sea... ie force of nature, storms/lightening, from the sea..

  14. thank you. i blat again for [8].

does Leera have any spells left? like cures, or restores?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Leera is out of spells. She only can cast 1st level spells anyway.

I still need to determine her skills and equipment. (The adventure did not include her character sheet.)

  16. Tries to get Thurstan away from Leera to ask him a question.

I want to do this in private.

Discussion: She basically came down here to be a grave robber. Secondly if I am not mistaken aren't bug bears evil? Who worships: Urgatha? Killing decent folks per her statement. I don't think I want her watching my back.

[note to gm] If she makes any threatening move to anyone in the core four (4) I move to power attack to kill her.

  19. thurstan asks her the professions of teryl, and the goblin female.

  20. .. and ponders Dargoths thoughts..

  21. Leera responds to Thurstan's questions, "I do not know the specialty of the goblin and she is not one you tend to engage in idle chatter. Teryl is a rogue specializing in traps. He is the one who discovered the one at the end of the hall before everything went wrong in there."

    ReplyDelete
  22. I uploaded a new character summary file reflecting the blat.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If she doesnt know the specialty of the goblin and she barely ever talks, what makes her "nasty?" She like to show off her bubble-booty? Flip the bird a lot? Chew with her mouth open?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Any other questions for Leera?

What other actions do you wish to take next?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can she ID bodies 2 and 3 from here or will that start another encounter?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Assuming that you avoid or disarm the pit, the danger has been overcome. Assuming you search and loot, you find the following:

Body 2 is one of the hobgoblin warriors accounted by Leera. You find the following equipment that is still usable; masterwork longsword, light wooden shield and a magic amulet.

Body 3 is Teryl. You find the following equipment that is still usable; masterwork buckler, masterwork short sword and a magic wand.

Upon seeing the body of the rogue, Leera says, "I don't know why he thought I'd want to be part of a band of thugs but even he deserved better than this."

Clint believes Leera to be saddened and sincere.

  27. What do you do next? Any more questions for Leera? Any further actions or exploration?

The only exits appear to be down the stairs or back the way you came.

I will likely provide answers and/or post on Monday night or sometime on Tuesday. I will update the treasure on the character summary when I post the next turn. If you want to identify the magic items please provide rolls. If you divide the haul, please note who will be taking what. There are still some items unassigned on my sheet. That may be a mistake. If so I need to know who to assign them to.

  28. i got a list, and a pick order still going..

    ReplyDelete
  29. I will head down the stairs in front (Slowly) asking Clint to check for Traps.

I thought I was carrying the +1 Flail on the Treasure Summary List.

My thougth is Masterwork Buckler should Go to Thurstan since he is the only one that might benifit from the upgrade.

Depending on what the amulet does I might be interested.

Vendor the restas far as I am concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Banjo will attempt to identify the items--does Leera have a clue as to what they are?

Spellcraft rolls, assuming Thurstan assists: 31, 20

  31. i will mark matt f as carrying the flail.
