Barrow of the Forgotten King - GM Turn Post 10

Examination of the vault door in the northwest corner reveals that it has been spiked shut with some care. The door is somewhat ajar allowing air to pass through. It takes just over a minute for Thurstan, Torvald and Blunderbuss to free the spikes and remove the door.

Cowering within is a human girl who can only be Tyra Yurling based on the description received in Kingsholm. When she sees that the group are civilized races, the girl rushes into Torvalds arms burring her head to his breast and begins sobbing. She is terrified and in an obvious state of shock.

Banjo is able to determine that the sources of magic are 4 arrows carried by the skeletons and the 5 torches that light the mausoleum. He identifies the arrows as +1 Flaming arrows and the torches as Everburning Torches.

What do you do next?

  1. Torvald - We must take this child out of here. Afterward though, I think we should return. There may be greater villany at work here.

  2. if the girl is safe, I help search the room. tables, bodies, statue, etc. put the bodies 'at rest'. I agree, if we are so close to town we should take the girl and victims to town, then return.

  3. is there anything unusual about the skeletons/zombies, besides that they moved on their own, any markings, were they raised locals.

    look for grave tempering.

of course we will take the bows/arrows.

if the torchs were placed by the townsfolk we leave them.

what time of day is it?

how long would it be to get to town and back?

is the door in m3 ajar? locked? not a door?

  4. There has been obvious signs of grave tampering. Many of the vaults have been opened and looted. The two zombies appear to be locals. The first zombie was a middle aged man with graying black hair and a long mustache, apparently Morgan Yurling. The second was an old man with a bald head and a long white beard. You assume that this is his dead father, Gunar. There is also the body of Deesire Yurling. The skeletons appear to have been bodies animated from the tomb. They were equipped with bow and, a quiver of arrows each including 2 magic arrows each.

Check. Take the bows and arrows. The torches appear to be part of the mausoleum based on their construction and placement.

It is early afternoon. You had just started/finished lunch when this all started. It is only a few minutes back to Kingsholm. Travel to town and back will take about 45 minutes to an hour not counting time spend doing things in town.

The east door is closed. Clint has examined it and does not believe it to be locked or trapped.
