The Sinister Spire - GM Turn Post 26

The wide road is choked with carts, booths, and tents, around which swarm sellers hawking their wares. Myriad items are available here, including riding lizards, sweetmeats, buoyant fossilized mushroom fibers, silver, pelts, crystals, vellum and pens, weaponry, and more. The assortment of buyers varies equally, and you see a few stooped giants, dozens of drow, duergar, grimlocks, and even a few stranger creatures. Dancers, magicians, stalactite throwers, fire-eaters, puppeteers, and tattooists peddle their talents to any and all comers beneath the green light of hundreds of hanging lanterns. The hard eyes of armored bodyguards and mercenaries warn would-be robbers.

What do you do next?

You may buy or sell mundane items that are under 3000 GP price. Magic items also under the 3000 GP limit can be purchased but it will take some time to locate. Selling magic items for the normal half price also takes time to find a buyer. There is not anything like a magic shop.

The dock is area P3 on the Pedestal map. The tannery is area P4 on Pedestal map. The Plagueburst is area P7 on the Pedestal map. The Necromancer’s Spike is identified by name on Pedestal map.

  1. i suggest we sell 4 tridents, 9 javelins, 5 hvy steel shields, and 5 spears. and then divide the 405 gp and 28 pp, so that each of us (brad, bruce, dave, hans, and the matts) gets 774.5 gold spending cash.

we should decide who is carrying:
scroll pro from energy(i suggest dave),
potion of cats grace(i suggest matt h),
and wand of detect magic(i suggest hans).

    any thoughts?
as soon as we decide, keith can update the list.

i would like to wait a bit longer to decide whos taking things for real, as there are not enough things on the list yet...

  2. I am good with this approach. I believe the 774.5 listed is total GP not a per character share. Each character would receive 129 GP and 8 CP.

Please let me know if this is your plan. If so, I will wipe the mundane items from the list and you will need to keep track of your monetary treasure. I will mark the magic items as carried by rather than owned by.

  3. right 774.5 was total, 129.08 is each.

  4. Please list any purchases that you plan to make in this thread. I will approve them here or tell you what it is going to take to secure what you want.

  5. I'd like to find a fletcher to replenish my arrow supply. I'd also like to keep an eye out for 'specialty' arrows. Elemental damage, or otherwise enchanted. I'm curious what the town has to offer that might be useful.

(I lost my paper sheet I was tracking arrows on. I'm pretty sure I was down around 20 or so though. I just intend to re-buy 60 or so mundane arrows.)

It's a little expensive, but is it worthwhile to carry one of these antidotes for the fungal disease with us? We might find one of us is susceptible for an unknown reason, or run across someone who needs our help.

  6. I've added the scroll of Prot from Energy to Banjo's sheet.

    I bought/intend to buy:

1 scroll with Prot from Evil x2
    4 vials antiplague
    2 vials antitoxin
    1 Handy Haversack

  7. Brad,

Normal arrow are not a problem. "Specialty" arrows are likely as well but you will need to specify what you are looking for. Available quantities may vary.

    To get an idea:

20 Alchemical Silver arrows cost 3GP.
20 Cold Iron arrows cost 2GP.
    20 Adamantine arrow costs 1201GP or 60GP,5CP for 1.
    20 masterwork arrows cost 121GP.
    20 +1 arrows cost 921GP.
    20 +1 shock arrows cost 3321GP.

The ash doom powder is expensive. It costs twice as much as an antitoxin/antiplague but lasts for a week rather than an hour. Admittedly, it is only for one specific disease but from what you are hearing, it is a nasty one.

  8. Dave,

I see no issues with tracking down the items you are seeking. Assuming that you have the 2350 GP to spend, you have no problems purchasing your wish list.

  9. Information on the ash doom antidote powder:

The concoction that Es Sarch was talking about is used to treat a disease called ash doom. With proper alchemical preparation, the mushrooms are made into a powder that provides immunity to ash doom for a week. If used by someone already inflicted, the powder grants +6 to Fort saves made to resist the disease. Each dose of powder sells for 100 GP in Pedestal.

  10. On behalf of Bruce:

how much is ash doom powder?

    i buy a dose

    ReplyDelete
  11. OK, here's my shopping list:

    40 mundane arrows
    5 Smoke arrows (10gp ea?)
    20 Alchemical Silver arrows
    20 Cold Iron arrows

I'm going to grab a vial of that Ash Doom powder. (100gp?) I'd rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it. (I can always sell it on the way out) Es Sarch may LOOK like a trustworthy fellow, but I don't think he's a doctor.

  12. I'll buy a shot of Anti-AshDoom, and Turok will get one for himself and N'Kima

    ReplyDelete
  13. Brad,

You are able to find what you are looking for. Yes, the smoke arrows have a 10GP per arrow cost. If my math is correct you are spending 157GP.

    Dave,

You and Turok can purchase the powder. The only issue is that in bear form, Turok does not have access to his gold. Does he change back or does someone lend him the money?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Banjo will lend him the gold and get it back from him when he has pockets again.

    ReplyDelete
  15. plus we all got 129 gp after selling stuff, and he had no pockets to store it..

    ReplyDelete
  16. btw, i bought 2, one for me, one for mr wolfe.

  17. On behalf of Matt F:

Dargoth purchases an ash doom antidote and an antiplague.
