Barrow of the Forgotten King - GM Turn Post 69

A search of the cleric’s body reveals the following:

  • A potion
  • A magic flail
  • Masterwork breastplate
  • Masterwork heavy steel shield
  • A paper draft good for 500 GP from the temple of Urgathoa signed by someone named Xeron on the authority of an organization or person called “Vanguard”

A search of the rest of the room reveals the following:

  • A statue of a gold dragon spits water into a clear pool. The pool is about 1 foot deep. The statue and pool radiate magic.
  • A smashed set of double doors lie at the northernmost point of the room. They once concealed a ledge and shaft leading down. The ledge is covered in rubble, the remains of the large stone doors. A rope ladder is currently affixed to the ledge and dangles over the edge.
  • The vaults to the east all have doors slightly ajar and are all empty.

What do you do next?

  4. You have pleanty of time to rest, heal, search and investigate.

The potion is a Potion of Levitate.

    The flail is +1.

The fountain and pool radiate Conjuration magic. It is not clear exactly what it does.

I want to check out the second Bullet:

"A smashed set of double doors lie at the northernmost ... A rope ladder is currently affixed to the ledge and dangles over the edge."

    Use Skill Knowledge Dungeoneering (Skill +8) - 13 + 8 = 21

Thurstan I would like to upgrade my Heavy Wooden Shield to the "Masterwork heavy steel shield" I will give you the Wooden Shield if you would like it. If that is ok with you.

I fully concur with you taking the "Masterwork breastplate"

I would not mind holding on to the Flail +1 if that is ok with the party as a backup weapon for skeleton disassembling duties.

    Use Skill Knowledge Dungeoneering (Skill +8) - 13 + 8 = 21

  7. Clint surveys the scene carefully, and conducts a detailed inspection of the fountain... (perhaps dungeoneering or use device skills?) tosses in a bit of debris... uses the dead Hobgoblin's hand to stir the water a little... pokes it with his own finger, should nothing happen so far... look for any tiny inscriptions, or hidden switches on the dragon...

Not interested in the treasure items thus far...

    skill rolls:
    [9] [17] [3] [11] [7]
