The Sinister Spire - GM Turn Post 48

It is assumed that you heal up and stay at the Dripstone Inn for the “night”. You may recover spells and abilities. (This is also where you level up.)

When the “morning” comes, Turok addresses the party over breakfast. “Friends, it saddens me to say but this is where N’Kima and I must leave you. We have been too long away from the open sky. You now seem to be on the correct path and we can leave with good conscious. I will provide a report back in Kingsholm so that they may know of your progress and continued health. Farewell my friends, may our paths meet again.” The Druid and the Ape salute the party and head off toward the earth node.

What do you do now?

Deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, the party gathered the treasure and gnomes and left Elessarwa’s torture chamber.

Once out of the tunnel, the party parted ways with the gnomes. They return to the Dripstone Inn. Es Sarch is seated in his stone chair. As you approach he asks, “How fare you on the tasks I set you? Are they complete?”

When the party indicated that they had completed their tasks, Es Sarch clapped his emaciated hands and provided congratulations.

The information broker continued to speak, “You have more than my gratitude for completing the tasks I set you; I also have answers for you. First, I have discovered that Fadheela lairs in the Necromancer’s Spike, as unlikely a haven as I could have imagined. But our fair Fadheela possesses resources that extend beyond Pedestal. She found a way to bypass the zone of decay that surrounds the column’s entry. And now I know that way too.”

“To enter the Necromancer’s Spike, one of you must carry this token. It will save you from the destructive magic protecting the first room within. Take care, however, for the ring suppresses the deathly effects of that chamber for only a minute or so.”

At this point he handed a ring carved of obsidian on which a skull was inscribed.

“Unfortunately, undead decay in the chamber even if they carry the ring, so I have been unable to learn anything else of the Vanguard of Sertous other than that the group’s arrival is recent here in the Great Grotto. I suspect this mysterious faction has found a convenient entry point into the Underdark, somewhere within the Necromancer’s Spike. Fadheela, as an associate of the Assissin’s Guild of Pedestal, is a perfect agent.”

“House Dusklorn has claimed the Spike. You’ll face soldiers at its entryway but not within. Unlike you and, ostensibly, this Fadhella, they have no way to get past the magic that protects the first room.”

“If you gain entry and survive, I hope you return and tell me all you learn. I can make it worth your while.”

True to his word, Es Sarch paid the party 150 GP for the extra mushrooms delivered from Rikaryon’s Isle.

Bookkeeping

I have added the treasure to the Character Summary. Please divide it between the party. You may sell anything that you do not want to keep in Pedestal.

It is also time to level up to 6th. Please send me you updated Hero Lab .por and .pdf files once you have leveled up. We can continue playing for a few turns while you level your guys but I will need them before the next combat starts.

This is also the likely place where Turok and N'Kima part ways with the party.

The Sinister Spire - Turn Results 45

Kirlic attacked Muvaysil with his longbow. The shot proved too difficult with all of his friends in the way and the arrow missed wide. Dargoth Power Attacked Muvaysil with his bastard sword. The blow landed dealing 13 damage despite the fighter’s weakened state. N’Kima lashed out at the spider in front of him hitting with both fists and his bite. The attack sequence dealt 33 damage and killed the summoned spider.

Muvaysil used a wand to Magic Missiles to deal 7 damage to Dargoth while the spider behind him missed the fighter with its bite. Elessarwa Channeled Negative Energy. The whole party was affected. Thurstan, Banjo, Clint, Dargoth, Turok and N’Kima were able to partially resist the effect and only suffered 5 damage. Mr. Wolfe and Kirlic each suffered 10 damage.

Turok stepped into the space formerly occupied by the spider and attacked Elessarwa with his bite and claws. The bite and a claw hit the drow cleric dealing a total of 26 damage. Mr. Wolfe bit at Muvaysil. The attack hit dealing 5 damage and knocked the wizard prone. Thurstan attempted to target Elessarwa with a Lightning Arc but the attacked missed through the congestion of combat in front of him.

Clint maneuvered through his friends and acrobatically jumped and rolled across the altar to gain a flanking position on the drow cleric. Banjo held back awaiting an opportunity to try to disrupt the next spell cast by the drow cleric.

Back on track here too

Post is coming shortly. Been very busy at work. I will try to keep up on a regular basis.
