N’Kima attacked Elessarwa with his bite and slam attacks but the ape missed with all three attacks.

The first appeared behind and attacked Dargoth with its bite. The monster struck true with its Smite Good attack dealing 9 damage but the fighter resisted the creature’s poison. The second appeared in front of Elessarwa and attacked N’Kima with its bite. The spider missed the ape. Elessarwa cast a spell while casting defensively. Kirlic fired two arrows at Elessarwa but his aim was put off by the Web spell. Both arrows missed the mark. Dargoth maneuvered forward and attacked Muvaysil with his bastard sword. The fighter landed a solid blow dealing 21 damage yet the wizard did not appear that much worse for wear after the blow. N’Kima moved forward and attacked Elessarwa with a slam attack. The ape missed the well armored drow.

Muvaysil cast a Ray of Enfeeblement on the defensive at Dargoth. The ray struck the fighter and temporarily drained 6 from his strength. Elessarwa started a spell while casting defensively with no immediate result.

The Sinister Spire - Turn Results 42

Kirlic, Dargoth and N’Kima all moved swiftly into the room but none were able to engage the drow.

Muvaysil, the drow wizard, cast a Web spell catching Dargoth, N’Kima, Clint and Thurstan in the area. Only Thurstan failed his save and was grappled by the sticky strands. Clint attempted to push further into the room but was not able to negotiate the web’s sticky strands without getting stuck. The rouge too became grappled. Elessarwa, the drow matron, cast a Silence spell targeting the passage and the lower portion of the torture chamber.

Turok and Mr. Wolfe both attempted to navigate the webs and both were successful. Thurstan broke free of the web and moved deeper into the room trying to exit the web and the silence field. The cleric was not quite able to reach his goal. Banjo, frustrated and raging silently, unable to see his targets or cast spells because of the silence attempted to navigate the web. The sorcerer failed and became grappled by the sticky strands.

The Sinister Spire - GM Turn Post 42

Dim light reveals iron maidens, racks, and other intricate contraptions in alcoves and spaced throuought the room. The northeast alcove is closed off with bars, and two forlorn gray-skinned gnomes stare out from behind them. Near the northern wall stands a stone altar adorned with intricate carvings of a spider that has the head of a female elf. Atop the altar is another gray gnome who whimpers as she struggles feebly against the manacles holding her.

Glaring at you from behind the altar are two drow. One is a striking female with chin-length silver hair and glittering chain armor, and the other is a slight, bald male clothed in loose black pants. Both have shiny daggers.

Upon reaching the door, the party continued to take precautions. Kirlic and Dargoth both drank antitoxin. Thurstan and Mr. Wolfe applied the Ash Doom antidote. Banjo cast Mage Armor on himself and Invisibility on Clint. The rogue moved to the door and examined it for traps. Thurstan tried to assist but their combined efforts did not reveal anything. While listening at the door, Clint was able to hear the faint sounds of whimpering from the other side.

Trying the door, the rogue found it to be locked. Upon touching the door, caused a ringing to occur. All members of the party clearly heard the sound. With help from Thurstan and several attempts, Clint was able to pick the lock and open the door.

A smooth stone panel is fitted to the northern wall. Since the passage descends from here, this rectangle of cut rock must be the entrance to Elessarwa’s secret torture chamber.

The Sinister Spire - Turn Results 40

As Numa, the prophet, walked away the party heard more of his raving.

“It is the city that heralds the end! A city primeval regurgitated by the earth! Vast creatures of the deeps wing ‘bout it, and tentacles slither within.”

“Who lives in the city? Sinful, soft carapaces surround minds that churn with philosophies hostile to all other creatures. Roused from the drowned depths, the fabled city is fable no more!”

“I wish the bugs in my hair would comb it!”

Clint’s search revealed a secret trap door. It was not trapped or locked. Once opened, it revealed a 5-foot diameter shaft descending to a sloped wet passage 30 feet below.

A welcome relief from the odor of the tannery above, this place smells of damp earth and stone. It is a passage that slopes slightly upward to the north and downward to the south.Ages of dripping water have birthed stalagmites and stalactites that line the tunnel like teeth, and tiny rivulets of water burble down the passage, off into the darkness.

The passage is 10 feet wide. Following the rising passage, per the instructions provided by Es Sarch, eventually lead to a door in the wall before the passage began to slope downward again.
