The air is filled with mist and spray from the nearby waterfall, but you see a slick staircase leading down to a ledge. A cavernous chamber opens to the east, its floor lost in darkness, and it looks like someone has built a rope line into the stairs as a way to make the descent easier.
After descending the slick and worn steps, you come to a ledge. On one side of the slick shelf is the waterfall, and on the other is a cavernous pit. Spikes have been driven into the ledge on the western side nearest the waterfall, and a rope has been threaded through loops in their tops, forming a banister of sorts.
What do you do next?
Starting positions for Turn 101 are displayed on the Combat Map.

ReplyDeleteMove 1 – Straight forward, remaining one square behind Dargoth, per our plan. (if he does not move, neither do I)

Dargoth – Player Action Response - GM Turn Post # 101 (WRIF turn!)
ReplyDeleteI think we should probably tie ourselfs together with Ropes. I would be happier if Clint went first to check for traps and slick Rocks! But if that is going to work. sheath all weapons and shield. Tug on Ropes and check footing the entire way to the bottom. Looking for rocks that have skid marks or slide marks on the way down. Where something or someone fell to their death. Take 20? Going down.
Move 1 – Move at snails pace downward.
Use Ability/Item/Skill – Safety Checks Below
Knowledge: Dungeoneering (Roll + 9) = [23]
Knowledge: Engineering (Roll + 7) = [12]

Rolls for Saving Throws/Skill checks – [16] [15] [10] [18] [15] [11] [16] [20] [14] [14]
The marching order I was given was:
ReplyDeleteDargoth
Kirlic
Clint
Banjo
Leera
Thurstan
(I put the wolf last)
I only heard this from one person (Matt F) but it was all I had to go with.
Clint sizes up the situation and sighs.... "Guess we know who's going first here, eh?" With some of his own rope he ties one end around himself and tosses the other to Dargoth. "Don't drop me if I fall in, mmkay?"
ReplyDeleteThen carefully, he begins to move out across the ledge. Checking the existing spikes to make sure they are secure, make sure the rope is not cut in a hidden spot, and no traps are evident....
Clint follows the 'banister' and attempts to slowly, methodically move across to the far side.
Rollz:
[1] [20] [15] [3] [20]
i wouldn't drop the rope, i ain't yer father...
